Cold Picnic

Cold Picnic is a New York based business specializing in minimalist abstract rugs, bathmats, and blankets. We worked with Supergravity in 2020 to redesign and migrate Cold Picnic’s website from Squarespace to Shopify.

We built a custom Shopify theme that stayed true to Cold Picnic’s minimalist ideals, while still featuring some of the quirks and idiosyncrasies that make their products unique.

The biggest technical challenge was creating a customizer for Cold Picnic’s rugs. Due to the nature of their rug designs, we were able to create an interface that allowed the editing of colors in an SVG. When the customized product is added to the cart, the customizer renders a static image and attaches it to the order item along with other data.

In 2023, we revisited the site and helped with updates that included new site navigation, improved collection filters, and enabled selling wallpaper by the yard.
